If we are honest, truly honest, so much of our time here on this earth feels like we are having to overcome obstacles.
Things like work/life balance, hoping our money will stretch further than we know is normal, praying that someone will recover from a sickness that is threatening to swallow them up completely.
What to do in those situations?
There is of course, no silver bullet.
Only hope, hard work (having hope in the first place can be the hardest thing you ever get to do) and a resilience that is borne out of the struggle to stay on top.
There is an old proverb that I love which goes like this:
“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when it comes, it is a tree of life.”
So whatever your situation, (and be honest with yourself, we all need a breakthrough somewhere don’t we?) do everything in your limited power to find a space to get some perspective, create some peace in the midst of the storm and allow yourself the luxury – and trust me, it will feel like an expensive luxury – of looking forward to a time when all of this will be but a distant memory, something to look back on and reflect positively.
It may be that this very struggle gives birth to something very strong in you.
