I like getting my hair cut.

More nowadays. than perhaps at any other time in my life.

The reason is simple of course. The barbers I visit monthly do a great job every single time.

The establishment I am referring to is a Turkish barbers called The Good Fellas with posters of the famous mafia movie adorning the wall and the owner, Jimmy looks like George Clooney – only he speaks mainly Turkish, with a bit of English here and there to make sure I am still okay. (Not that George Clooney was in Good Fellas of course but Jimmy does look like him!)

For years, like many men, I have had my favourite barber in the various places I have lived but this place is different. There are four chairs and I have sat in every one of them but unusually, in my experience at least, no matter who cuts my hair, the experience is virtually the same.

The barber speaks with his colleagues in Turkish, and I close my eyes and enjoy the nearest thing you can get to a head & arm massage for £15.00 (including a tip).

Yesterday, not only did I get my customary hot towel face treatment (involving being wrapped up like a Mummy for about 90 seconds) followed by both arms being rapidly rubbed up and down but Jimmy flipped a switch and the box that was under my feet began to vibrate so effectively that both of my legs received a massage too!

Just when I thought my monthly visits to The Good Fellas were becoming predictably relaxing and amazing value for money, the whole experience just went up another level.

For those of you who live in the Brighton area, I thoroughly recommend a visit.

I am at heart, a communicator. I love to use words, whether written or spoken and maximise those words to hopefully, bring some encouragement - literally, to put courage into the hearts & minds of those who read or hear them. In my work as an executive coach, speaker, workshop facilitator, I love also to listen...deeply, and then respond with some encouragement.
